XIXth Commonwealth Games start with a Glittering opening ceremony at New Delhi yesterday. Here are the special stamps and Miniature Sheet issued on this occasion to mark this gala event. The colorful MS depicts fireworks signifying this mega event in India stamps feature four different sport events – badminton, archery, hockey and athletics. These stamps are in new look with new sign of Indian Currency recently introduced.My thanks to Mr Shrikant Parikh, Ahmedabad for this Post !! The Commonwealth Games opened in New Delhi on Sunday night in a spectacular of dance, music and fireworks.
Department Of Posts has established two Post Offices i.e. CWG Village and Main Press Centre, Pragati Maiden to cater to the athletes, delegates, visitors and media persons. These Post Offices are providing very affordable postal and logistics facilities to its customers in a very friendly environment. The Philatelic Sales Counters of these Post Offices are an attraction as a variety of stamps (featuring the flora and fauna, sports, art & culture, famous personalities etc.), Philatelic Books and Special Covers are available for sale. On 30.9.2010, the Delhi Postal Circle has issued one Special Cover to commemorate the arrival Of Queen’s Baton in Delhi and very soon two picture post cards will also be issued by Department Of Posts on Commonwealth Games 2010. The Indian postal department issued a third set of stamps to commemorate the XIX Commonwealth Games at the CWG Village Post Office.
